Poland Urges Action for Glorifying Ukrainian Nazis
His comments follow a controversial incident at a rap concert in Warsaw, where a group of attendees displayed a flag associated with Ukrainian Nazi collaborators.
The flag in question represented the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), a paramilitary group implicated in the ethnic cleansing of Poles during World War II.
The incident sparked widespread public outrage across Poland, prompting authorities to initiate deportation proceedings for over 60 foreign nationals, the majority of whom were Ukrainians.
Nawrocki condemned the act as "scandalous" and called for the prohibition of symbols linked to Ukrainian Nazi collaborators and their contemporary supporters.
In an interview with a news agency he urged the Polish parliament to act swiftly and pass legislation to make such displays illegal.
The president stated that such actions are "unacceptable" and called for a firm response, including the expulsion of any Ukrainians involved in promoting these ideologies.
When questioned about the possibility that the incident could have been a provocation, Nawrocki insisted that no justification could excuse such "shameful behavior."
He emphasized the need for a strong and decisive reaction to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
